DRUM LESSONS

As a studio musician, performer, and educator I offer a unique approach to playing the drum set.

Styles: Jazz, Rock, Country, Latin, African, Music from India and World Music just to name a few.

Curriculum: My curriculum for beginners to advanced students consists of understanding the note value, technique, posture, using the metronome, playing in the pocket, theory, rudiments, time keeping, swing, chart interpretation, independence, syncopation, ploy-rhythms, poly metric modulation, odd time signatures, how to approach auditions, studio recording and performing live.

Practicing: Allocating practice time is very important to strengthen your technique, stamina, endurance and control. Learning should be fun. If your not having fun then you’re not doing it right.

Our son Carson has been taking drum lessons from Bob since 2009, he loves going to class to learn to play the drums and read music. He learns something new every class and as an adult now he is even paying his own class tuition! “Bob is patient and understanding of his students” The great reward has been the drum performances that Bob schedules twice a year. Four and a half years ago I was looking for a drum teacher for my 9 year old son. We tried a couple of trial lessons at different studios in town but just did not feel like they were the right fit. We met Bob and my son had his first lesson and we have never looked elsewhere. My son has learned how to play a variety of different styles of music. As a parent, I enjoy the semi-annual drum performances / recitals that Bob puts on with his students. Bob is very organized, has good communication skills and I appreciate his ability to juggle and re-schedule lessons occasionally when requested.

Based on the number of years I've watched my son take his lessons and all the other students in the recitals, I can see not only how popular Bob is, but also how much all of his students love him and are learning and growing under his tutorials. Bob Ego is a fun and entertaining teacher. He is patient and kind and works very hard to make sure each drummer is having fun as well as learning how to be an accomplished musician.
